It will take me a solid 10 minutes to actually get everything quit and restart continual beachballs before the system finally responds to commands. The proposed conversion hacks are simply for butchering perfectly good fonts. It fixed the problems with Motion we were having here. I was summarizing, perhaps too much. Short of that, the only solution appears to be to reinstall Mac OS X I cannot replicate the problem on my Mac. Written by Dana Stibolt April 21st, at 1: Strangely, it was only the Regular face that opentyle a problem, Ital, Bold and all others were fine.
I used MainMenu to clear font caches – also no problem discovered. Plus, it’s made in Italy. Since no one has mentioned this it may not be related, but I had the SeaMonkey browser crash on startup after the update do to a opentgpe Courier font.
I created a PDF service which opened the file in Acrobat and then printed from there. All “liga” features in opentype and truetypes are ignored. Apple does not offer any statement or even acknowledgement of the problem, which I think is really unkind and inappropriate.
Perhaps try logging in as a different user; I can’t think of ooentype other aspect of the system could be tweaked by the user to test a fix. I deleted the font to correct the problem. I started having the problem about two weeks ago using Myriad Pro, but it was out of InDesign.
Phew – Apple have just released an update with a patch that seems to have resolved the issue. Given Apple’s standing among graphics professionals one would hope it will be sooner rather than later. Since Flash compiles the font along with a SWF for some text typesportions of the project were fine, but I had to replace the font completely in files that I still need to compile.
No one had reported older fonts as being troublesome, but it’s not terribly surprising given that OpenType is just a container format.
Adobe – need to release updates to correct the same problem in their own software.
