I’ve been a player for 30 years; Brian plays several chords I don’t recognize; the camera is close up on his left hand but I still can’t identify the chords. But it’s great music and I’ll definitely be investing more time in watching it and trying to learn Brian’s techniques. The little printed book that comes with this dvd is nearly impossible to read and is practically useless. But I will persevere and try to learn more from this dvd; it will be worth it.

I also enjoyed that Brian talks about guitars and his equipment setup, it’s just like having a jam session with Brian in person. Brian has more material like this out there; given how great this music is, I’ll be looking for more.

I like what Brian Setzer has to offer regarding playing swing and rockabilly but the accompanying book of tab is so poorly printed, with the fret numbers filling in with ink that it takes way too much work to decipher.

Unfortunately the tab that is displayed on screen is completely unintelligible. You spend most of you time watching his fingers and figuring it out for yourself. A real shame on what could have been a pretty good learning tool.

It should be that hard to do right. I purchased this as an experienced almost 2 decades on and off at this bian as a hobby guitarist new to rockabilly.

Setzer is amazing in tone, style and technique I find this video great for ideas and inspiration, or even just to watch and be amazed, but there is not a good note by note break down of the licks. There is tab in a small pamphlet inside but I expected a little more instruction.

Still a good purchase for me, but not what I expected. I bought this with low expectations for guitar instruction. I just knew it would be entertaining to watch Brian jam up close and personal. Well, from a performance perspective this was great. From a guitar instruction perspective, it was better than expected.

He spends a lot of time breaking down “Too Hip, Gotta Go” with detailed descriptions of his unique picking style. He doesn’t go into too much detail about theory, such as how to substitute jazz chords. The only thing that bugged me was that this was obviously filmed during the swing revival of the early 90’s, and Brian goes a little overboard with the “swing” and “bop” references. I’ve read some sefzer that indicate the conversion quality isn’t very good, but in my opinion the quality was excellent.

I highly recommend this if you are a fan of rockabilly, early rock, swing, or just entertaining guitar playing. Even if you aren’t a guitar player, this is entertaining enough for Brian Setzer fans to own anyway.

Im bias and Brian Setzer is one of my all time favorites aetzer yea this album kicks butt. I own tons of his stuff and have never been dissapointed, ever. Get to Know Us. Amazon Web Services Briian Shopbop. Delivery and Returns see our delivery rates and policies.
